The Harvest

Sometime in January, the farmers who grow for Lays Potato Chips begin to plant their fields - it is quite obvious that they are all on a rotating schedule with crops being planted and then harvested during April and May. This week it was our turn to watch as harvesting took place in the fields around our house.

Here's a photo of the potato fields a few weeks ago....

The harvesting begins well before the sun comes up.....

And continues throughout the next couple of days.....

Closeup of the harvester.....

The tractor leaves the field with a full load..........

The harvester sits in the field over-night ................

Until it all begins again the next morning......

Now, the next time you open a bag of Lays Chips, you can say you've seen those taters harvested!..........

P.S.....for those who are wondering....nope, we can't eat these potatoes.....they're meant to be thin sliced and fried for chips, one would have to boil them for hours in order to eat them...we get our potatoes from the store just like you (unless our Farmer across the street has planted some in his personal garden....then I get a bag of fresh....
