Spring Storms

Not much got accomplished 'round here last week; the storms brewing all around us brought sinus headaches that pretty much caused a work stoppage. The storms rolling in can be pretty intimidating.........

The farmers continue to work until the very last minute.

It's beautiful; it's awesome; and it makes you appreciate the power of nature if by chance you've forgotten about it in the peace that surrounds you most of the time. I sometimes wonder what it must have been like 100 years ago when most of the buildings we see around us were not there. How it must have felt to watch these clouds rolling in as evening came on; how the lack of the electric lighting that we can see piercing the darkness would have perhaps made it all even more intimidating to the family that lived here then.........

After the storms, we're always reminded of the spots for which dirt has not yet been brought in....once, we set up the canoe for H and his cousin Jeremy in the spot you see below. They and their imagination sailed the open seas for an hour or two.....

After the first storm, while the "ponds" still were evident, another storm moved into view and we experienced it all over again...with pounding heads but steady hearts because this house, built 100 years ago, has seen many a storm in its day and still stands strong.

We sat on the front porch to await its arrival. And hoped with its departure, it would take the pounding sinus headaches with it so that we could get back to work around here..............
